the whole -v output please.
i see you have a font, try -sid 1 or -sid 2 or -sid 3 too.
mplayer -v file.ogm should report something like:

Ogg : stream 1 is vorbis
Ogg stream 2 is text
Ogg stream 3 is text

you have an mkv that crashes mplayer? can you upload 1mb somewhere?
for us to test...
