they are found in the system32 dir but not codecs/ e.g. c:\programs\mplayer\mplayer.exe wont find quicktime in c:\programs\mplayer\codecs but in c:\WINNT\system32 it works. also mithrandi compiled a build with vo_gl2 that works pretty well, still slower than directx vo tho on my sys.
