Go on Extras => Folder Options => File Types
Then pick up AVI for example from the list, if it doesn't exist, create a
new filetype called AVI.

Many filetypes are linked, that means that the same application will be
used to handle the filetype than another.
More about that later.

Now after you selected AVI click on "Advanced".
All actions are listed what Windows will offer you to do with a AVI file.
The default action is "open" (the name doesn't really matter, you can also
call it kindergarten, but open is more like... standart *g*)

Now select the "open" entry in the list and click on "edit".
You will have to enter an application which will handle this file type,
let's take an example from me:
"C:\WINNT\unix\mplayer.exe" -vo directx:ontop "%1"

From now on mplayer will be called. In addition i added the ontop option
to prevent the window from hidden by others.
Really important are the "%1". If you leave out the "" mplayer won't be
able to handle file names containing blanks (" ") because mplayer thinks
that after the blank the filename ends.

I mentioned linked file types. Now every linked filetype to avi will call
mplayer, too so you don't have to redo the procedure for every media
filetype you know, normally it is ok to change the AVI, MPEG and ASF handler.

BTW: mplayer is also able to handle "corrupt" BIN files.
Another nice action will be when you use edonkey/mldonkey/emule...whatever
your religion is... simply add the extension .PART and you'll be able to
watch 90% of the undone files very comfortable by clicking on it :-).

Hope that helps.
Frank
