It grows with the length of the file. It's insignificant if the
timestamp values are under a couple of hours. A stream lasting several
days would no longer have distinct timestamps for consecutive frames
with float accuracy.

No, as I said the errors would be of similar size. If the error from the
float precision of fps would cause noticeable desync, then the error
from the float precision of the division would cause variation as big as
the desync in the duration of individual frames, which would certainly
be worse.
