Yes, but sometimes the history is not worth much, when it's full of
cosmetics, simple mistakes, etc...

Yes, possibly.  I assume you're talking about dvdnav.  I'm afraid the
patch does not even apply to HEAD right now, though.  Apart from that it
may be a good idea.
