I have posted this issue in different places.
If if doesn't solve itself with update and re-emerge (Gentoo GNU Linux
here), I might languish without solution.

It just always worked until this update.
It's one of the very few things that don't yet work, pls hold back the
evil grin, anybody!

is wasting my long hours of its own difficulty.

The issue is the time-honoured, still seemingly the slickyest and
finest way for grabbing or capturing if you prefer, the composite
input on old Hauppauge PCI cards, one of the last things PCI on my new
hardware... I'll be missing those! Just as the DVD drives, the CD and
DVD media and things, but hey, the world is a changing...

Pls., anyone, don't mind my talkativeness, see the difficulty of the
no sound issue with mencoder, and point me in the right direction to
solve this issue, if you can!

On my part, I'll try and remember to post the solution, so others with
similar issue get some help from my experience!
