The above command line appears to process the file without error, but my
guess is that the video is playing at half speed compared to the audio.
The file is (I think) 480p with ac3. Playing the output avi, VLC displays a
message that it needs repair.

Processing of the file shows unending messages like this:

1 duplicate frame(s)!
Pos: 190.6s 5743f (10%) 5.96fps Trem: 142min 279mb A-V:0.000 [858:384]

2 duplicate frame(s)!
Pos: 190.6s 5744f (10%) 5.95fps Trem: 142min 279mb A-V:0.000 [859:384]

I think I'm close here. Do I need to downsample the output video stream?

Man I wonder if anyone would be willing to take an ftp copy of this file so
they can play with the filters?
Or, is there a good way to dump stats on the file to help ups guide the
mencoder options?

BTW I built the latest mencoder and ffmeg. And speaking of that, when
should one use ffmpeg and when should one use mencoder?

Trying to come up to speed here!
Thanks
