[MEncoder-users] Tron Legacy switches aspect/crop?

 I am looking a theron Legacy DVD.  It seems that of the movie has the aspect:

720:368:0:54

while some of the action scenes are:

720:480:0:0

If I play with crop=720:368 it shows all the scene, so it would appear that it's smooshing the video in the areas where it's 720:480.

Is this something that they are doing more often?  I've only recently started using crop so I'd hate to have screwed up some of my encodes.
