Most software players pretty much ignore the flags.  The only difference 
you should see with mplayer is the "demux_mpg: 24000/1001fps progressive 
NTSC content detected, switching framerate" message.  To see all the 
resulting fields, run mplayer with -vf softpulldown.

For arbitrary pulldown, there's also tele_src/tele_dest, which seems to 
work reasonably well (at least well enough to fool American DVD players 
into playing 25-fps video).
