Try adding -mc 0 -noskip just to be sure. I'm sure that someone else can
tell you a better tool for this anyway.

It should not be necessary to downgrade the whole system, just adding
the gutsy repositories and doing something like apt-get install
dvdauthor/gutsy or something like that should be possible. But that is
off-topic for this list.

I doubt it makes a difference for RW, but if you have a really old
player, DVD-R might be most reliable.
