[MEncoder-users] subtitles have become hardcoded in video

Can I assume you are on Windows? If not, ignore the following
suggestion. When mencoder is running, look in your system tray and see
if VobSub is running - I've had the same problem where it just
automatically activates when an .mkv file is accessed and starts
displaying the subtitles over the video.
