Hi.
if you want some informations:
type:
1) midentify film.avi where midentify is a shell script ; part of the mplayer 
tarball(go to source directory).
Be careful with LENGH which is often false with some files like mpeg from 
dvb(my expérience).
2)ffmpeg -i  film.avi same pb with LENGTH
3)idvid from the tovid suite(i think it uses mplayer).
