[MEncoder-users] mencoder slow

I've got a Pentium Dual Core 3.0 ghz processor and am running two mencodes
in parallel. Why am I running them in parallel? Well it's a dual core
processor and I thought I entertain the testing. Sure enough, when I run
only one mencoder instance, 40 to 50 percent of the cpu shows to be used.
When doing two at once, it maxes the cpu.

The frame rates looked good hours ago at about 27 fps. It's been running
for over 10 hours now and I noticed the frame rates on both have dropped to
1.2 frames per second and the times to finished have dramatically increased.

Pos:2181.4s 52306f (25%) 1.31fps Trem:1973min 3802mb A-V:0.010 [3246:448]

Can anyone shed light on what I may be doing wrong? I know my bitrate is
high at 5000, but I'm looking for quality. Setting the vhq to 4, is that
too high? Are these results with time expected with this config? BTW, I
did check and make sure the namo is included within the xvid conf before
compilation so I don't think it's an instruction set issue.
