[MEncoder-users] compression test

I have another question on this topic. In applications like Staxrip
or GKnot the Compcheck
is used to take the resolution as a variable to get a certain quality
with a fixed target size.

My idea is to take the bitrate as a variable to get a comparable
quality for different video styles
with a fixed resolution. i need this for a batch encoding program. Am
i right that this way would
be better for saving bits than using a fixed quantizer?
