[MEncoder-users] rc2 mencoder incapable of muxing a/v?

Whoops, accidently sent this to the wrong list last night. Maybe I can
get it right this time...

I just downloaded and built 1.0rc2 and upon playback of video encoded with the
new mencoder, I get nonsense like this:

   A:18693.9 V: 40.3 A-V:18653.623 ct: 4.029 967/967 3% 0% 0.3% 0 0

with the audio and video, obviously, hopelessly out of sync. Previously,
I'd seen behavior like this only when attempting to use -audiofile with
ac3 streams (on-the-fly encoding always worked fine). The command line
that resulted in the above was:

mencoder -ovc lavc -oac lavc \
    -lavcopts acodec=ac3:abitrate=128 -endpos 120

(input is avi generated using rc1: FMP4, 192kbps AC3)

and version information:

   MEncoder 1.0rc2-4.1.1 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team
   CPU: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+ (Family: 15, Model: 31, Stepping: 0)
   CPUflags: Type: 15 MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
   Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx SSE SSE2

Other audio coders, bitrates, etc. appear to produce the same result. I can
separate out the audio and video and remux with avimerge to produce a playable
file.

I looked through the archives and didn't see any mention of this. Since it
renders mencoder pretty much unusable, this is somewhat surprising. Am I the
only one?
