I realise this isn't exactly the answer you were looking for,
but if you convert your .srt sub file to .ass, which is
easily done using Aegisub (free), then you can do what you
want, and much, much more. It takes about 30 seconds to convert
a plain srt file to a partially styled .ass using Aegisub.
