[MEncoder-users] field order not preserved when encoding to AVI ?

Hello,

When encoding mpeg2 program streams (tv dvb-t broadcast) to AVI, it seems
that field order is either changed from the source, or not signaled
correctly in the resulting AVI:
- when playing back in VLC with BOB deinterlacing, the source plays fine but
the encoded file is jumping exactly as a if the field were reversed.

Is there a solution to preserve the field order (exactly as it is in the
source) all the way through an encoding to AVI ?

Thanks

PS: the mencoder line I use is for example:
mencoder "tv.mpg" -ovc xvid -xvidencopts
"vhq=2:bvhq=1:chroma_opt:quant_type=mpeg:fixed_quant=4:interlacing" -oac
copy -o "tv.xvid.avi"
