No because they are incompatible with this architecture

That's not a problem then, you won't need the windows codecs to encode to lavc 
or Xvid

There is great documentation available for mplayer in the source package. I 
suggest you download the source and read it. Also do read the man page, which 
again is full of documentations and a few examples
