Sometimes I think it would be useful if MEncoder had an option to clone the
settings of another video file. E.g.

mencoder input.avi -clone-settings other.mp4 -o new_file.mp4

That would mean that as long as you have one working video file, you could
encode happily (probably :) ) without having to worry about individual
settings.

Or, perhaps there could be a separate command that could produce an mencoder
command line to duplicate an existing video format.

mencoder input.avi `find-settings other.mp4` -o new_file.mp4
