[MEncoder-users] x264: color fidelity / accurate color

when encoding to x264 I am getting inaccurate color that is brighter, less saturated.
If I follow the instructions from a post on the x264 devel mail list, and set qp=0, then the color is 
good but it produces a high bitrate.   Is there any other way to achieve proper color? If I set qp to
anything other than qp=0, the color is wrong.
