[MEncoder-users] Screenshot?

I want to make a fullscreen screenshot consisting of:
     1) fullscreen gnome-terminal in the background, the terminal which
     launched Mplayer, and
     2) the window in the foreground with the movie in it.
     Curiously, whenever I make a capture of the whole screen, the 
resulting
     .png contains only blue nothingness instead of the film.
     Any suggestions for a workaround?
