You're obviously looking for the wrong things.  The IVTV documentation
mentions, no doubt, that you have to play /dev/video0, and that the YUV
format isn't supported by any applications.

tv:// is NOT for MPEG capture cards.  For IVTV, you have to use an
external application to set the channel first (which comes with IVTV).
