Well, since the command-line above says "norm=ntsc", I'll give you two
guesses.

No, actually they have a higher resolution than that.  

The width, is around 704, and even the worst TVs (that cut-off much of
the picture) will show black bars on the sides... if you play that video
at the proper aspect ratio (~1.185).
