Thank you all for the replies, however I am still having trouble even working
with Real Audio.  It seems that sipr.so.6.0 is casuing problems, and when I
found a copy of it and installed it, I rightly recieved, Error sipr.so.6.0 is
not a valid windows image.  Looks like this is causing problems too,
sipr.bundle/Contents/MacOS/sipr .  Should I get these files and put them
somehwere in the path?  Is it possible to get the audio from a .rm file and put
it into .mp3?  I tried a command like this:

prompt>mencoder test.rm -oac pcm -ovc copy -o c:\testrm.mp3

And I get this:
