[MEncoder-users] colormap mencoder/mplayer weirdness

When creating mpeg movies from jpeg files using the command:

mencoder mf://*.jpg -mf type=jpg:fps=30 -o output.mpg -ovc lavc -lavcopts
vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=15000 -oac copy

I get movies that play fine on other machines with both mplayer and media
player but when played on the machine where I created them, I get some color
streaking and color changes that where not expected. What is weird I can
reboot my machine (running Fedora FC3 with MPlayer 1.0pre6-3.2.2 CPU: Intel
Pentium 4/Xeon/Celeron Foster and MEncoder 1.0pre6-3.2.2) and the abnormality
does NOT go away. The jpeg files look fine. The movie looks fine on the other
machines. I play other jpeg movies that I have not created on the machine in
question and they look fine.

If I go to the other machine (running Fedora FC3 with
mplayer-1.0-0.lvn.0.26.pre7try2.4 and
mplayer-mencoder-1.0-0.lvn.0.26.pre7try2.4) and redo the mencoder and mplayer
commands it looks fine.

So I thought it might be fixed with a new version. Got the latest CVS release
and still have the same problems.

I have never seen colormap abnormalities with mplayer except when I create the
mpeg file with mencoder. This might not be a mplayer or mencoder problem, but
I only see it when I use those products. OK, I know what you are thinking -
just view the movie on the other machines! This isn't critical, but just
annoying! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Glen
