  when played with mplayer saturation is increased for divx type, makes the difference rather visible. mplayer reproduces xvid correctly (just like the original mpeg2).
  i would like to document this with images, but i cannot print screen for divx image (i get green chroma key instead, print screen for xvid works fine).
  when i use -vo png to extract frames, both divx and xvid images look like original mpeg2, so then i realised that problem is probably not with the mencoder, but with the mplayer (it playes divx video with increased saturation?).

  resulting png images are avilable for inspection, but since all of them are practicly the same, there is no reason to post them.
  if anyone knows how to extract frames while mplayer plays divx (like with print screen, the one that now returns green chroma key), that wold be worth posting.
