I'd love to post a gdb backtrace if I knew how to do that...

Meanwhile, my soundcard theoretically supports 48khz capture; I'll poke 
around the options and see what I"ll need to change to make that happen; 
I assume capturing at 48khz would be preferable to upscaling to 48, from 
44...
