I encode everything with (at least) "-vf ivtc=1,pp=lb,softskip". That
would probably help. There are pros/cons to both ivtc and pullup.
Unless it gives me mismatched fields on a particular source, I prefer
ivtc.

Well, if you really want to preserve every frame, you can use -ofps
30000/1001, though you'll get tons of duplicate frames (which aren't
exactly a bad thing), and possibly uneven motion during panning scenes
and the like.
