[MEncoder-users] VCD encoding: mencoder gets stuck after some frames

Heya :)

I'm using the latest CVS (updated today) version of mplayer+mencoder
and I'm trying to do the following:

encode a PAL VCD file using a WMV file as the source.

I used the command that is proposed in the mencoder docs. What happens:
mencoder starts to work, at frame 4501 it stops, doing nothing at all
any more, CPU load stays at 100%, but mencoder doesn't continue with the
encoding. It doesn't seem to matter how long I wait. I've tried this on
different machines, it's always the same problem. The source file size
is 500MB, so I cannot post it anywhere. I can play the WMV file
relatively fine in mplayer (apart from image being slower than sound,
which is usual on my box for WMV playback). I cannot define the problem
more exactly, because I'm not getting any error message or anything
useful from the output.

System configuration: P3/650, 256MB RAM, Debian Testing, a 2.4.27
kernel, newest CVS version of mencoder+mplayer, "essential" codecs
package.

Any ideas?
