[FFmpeg-user] Is there a way to reconnect to a RTSP stream after it disappears from the network?

I asked this question about audio streams a month ago, never got an answer.  streamripper (audio streams only) keeps on trying for the whole time specified and quits at the end of the appointed time, so it can be done.  Unfortunately streamripper works on shoutcast streams only.
