that is how it is in ffmpeg
send patch, threaten commit in x days, commit if no reply
i dont think droping the "explicit threten to commit" would make it
better and otherwise its the same as what you describe above.

Also remember mans was the one asking for a patch from mplayer to be blocked
without reason or review not me.
