Speaking of technical reasons, which is the advantage of using
libxvidcore compared to the native FFmpeg MPEG 4.2 encoder?

Also was ever discussed the implementation of a native MP3 encoder?
Would that fit as a GSoc task and what are we still missing?

(As for the a libx264->FFmpeg merge I'm not holding my breath, but yes
there would be great technical advantages from that as well...).
