Hello again
Hmmm... must have been a very different/old version I used to scan for 
channels then..
Anyway, I applied the your patch to yesterday's cvs and also changed 
that  type!=TUNER_TER etc.  line as suggested (without the change I kept 
getting segfaults) and I'm pleased to say that it works quite nicely for 
actual TV channels. Thanks !!

Two odd things still happening
- in the UK there are a lot of as yet unused TV channels in the mux that 
don't display much, if I tune to those using 'h' or 'k' mplayer seems to 
hang
- tuning to a RADIO channel caused my computer to crash hard
of course I'll be removing the offending entries from my channels.conf 
so that's easy to fix this way.
