[Mplayer-dvb] Splitting avi?

Hello,

I am in the stage of finishing an 12 hours of converting a VDR recoring
(17 minutes left according to Mencoder...) and the prognose size is
1051Mb (with the suggested bitrates for 700Mb CD, I got so "many errors"
like Duplicate frame or skip frame that could explain that
difference...).

Is there an easy way (under linux...) to split it (700 Mb and another
file)?
