I don't think there is an "official" spelling (who would be in a
position to make decisions and pronouncements as to what is and is not
"official", there being no central office to handle these matters?). I
don't know which form I prefer, honestly; in some cases I would probably
push for hyphenated, in others I might push for non-hyphenated,
depending on grouping issues. I do agree, however, that consistency is
important, and for at least the time being going with what is already
heavily used - that being the non-hyphenated form - is probably best.
