Seems like I need to install a newer kernel and perf too along with it.
The default one in debian squeeze (2.6.32) just doesn't give that info.
I tested on my Core2Duo laptop with kernel 2.6.37 and there I get some
more counters reported... heck, without piping the output, I even get
flashed with a ncurses-based interactive 'perf report'.

Well, OK, it's not the first time I built a kernel, I even had to do it
on the K6-3 to make perf work at all. Just thought I could be lazy and
use debian squeeze without tweaks as baseline.

It still strikes me as odd why the perf version there allows me to
record events that it doesn't offer a way to report.

Well, you'll be able to grab a PSU from someplace, I hope. An Athlon
system is not too old to make any current ATX PSU still work for it.
Yay for industry standards.

I'll check again. For now I'm tryin to reproduce/trace where
-march=athlon came in.

Alrighty then,

Thomas.
