You're perfectly right about that.
Dunno if and when there will be a release for this but the willingness 
to hide it is due to legal & licensing issues.

I however managed to get access to the sources you're mentionning.
They do have some patch for MPlayer that makes use of dlopen()
to provide bd support. In other work, there's no public header and
MPlayer is not linked to libbd in any way.

I however didn't yet managed to play a BD with this lib.
