Hi

I have been looking at the pts values displayed on mplayer status line
and noted that in my .mkv-files (encoded video with x264) the pts values
for video looks like (had to add more digits in the output to see it):
0.042000
0.083000
0.125000
0.167000
0.209000
0.250000
0.292000
0.334000
0.375000

The length between each video frame
is: .041000, .042000, .042000, .042000, .041000, .042000, ...

For a 23,976 movie it should be about 0.041708 between each frame.

I have a .mp4-file (with x264 encoding). It has pts values of about
0.041708 all the time.

Why are the pts values in the .mkv files like above? Is it because
of .mkv, mplayer's decoding of .mkv or what?

To follow the pts values in the .mkv file, video frames would be
displayed with a variable intervall between frames.

Regards,

  Dan
