Well, you can start doing some custom scripts; cron jobs, parsing gcc's
output with a bit of perl (or grep, sed, awk, ...) or set up one of
these "continuous integration" systems. You have many possibilities
there on Unix systems... oh, and you'd need some box that is powered
up more often than powered down and connected to the internet more often
than not;-)

We at the Source Mage distro have something in that direction with
"Prometheus":

(The first example for a "spell" there is even MPlayer - what a
coincidence;-)

PS: I don't claim to have experience there; I just once had a glimpse on
"Continuum", know at least superficially what Prometheus does as I see the
bugs it reports to bugzilla and have a cron job that does regular svn
snapshots of a personal project and runs ./autogen.sh and ./configure
once... at least I imagine that there is something possible;-)
