It makes more sense to me to have:

.SS "name that you can put after -ovc" ( "full -codec-enc" )

such as:

.SS xvid (\-xvidencopts)

.SS vfw (\-xvfwopts)


that means that the paragragh:

.B \-<codec>opts <option1[=value],option2,...>
.
.PP
Where <codec> may be: lavc, xvidenc, divx4, lame, toolame, twolame,
nuv, xvfw, faac, x264enc, mpeg, lavf.


*would* need to be somewhat reworked, unfortunately.

IMHO, the description of \-<codec>opts is too far away from the
description of the options to loose our youth over trying to make it
consistent.
<codec> names are not consistent enough with regards to what needs to
be given to -ovc to try to be consitent in the docs.

That's just the way I see it, though.
