What a pity ! mplayer is a media player, so it's supposed to be a 
desktop application : considering this, I believe that the frontend is 
as important as the rest of the application..

And as far as I know, there's no other mplayer GTK frontend available.

Without a frontend, mplayer is useless. too bad for the best GNU Linux 
media player :(
