I checked on a Pentium 3 Coppermine, and a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz HT.
Both support mmxext, but don't report it in cpuflags.

With the changes you commited to configure, mmx2 will be disabled
on all Intel CPUs, which will obviously be a large speed impact.
