You need to flame the "coreutils" maintainer to fix head.
If you submit a clean patch that detects whether or not head -1 works,
and falls back to head -n 1 if head -1 doesn't work, it will probably
be accepted. But IMO it's a MAJOR problem that the idiot GNU
maintainers have broken their version of head like this, so it would
be better to flame them to fix it.
