What exactly is the problem you are having?  What system do you run?
FreeBSD?  That would explain why I cannot reproduce your problems.

Renaming the option and the variables is a good idea to clear up some
of the confusion.  I'll adapt my patch.

This looks wrong to me, it should be '#undef USE_INTERNAL_FAAD".
