Cool. I have been thinking about looking into that but never got around
to do it. :-)

And regarding the conditional shared memory usage, it would be nice to
make the XVidmode calls conditional too. At the moment I can't use
vanilla mplayer remote on my notebook, because the XServer fails the
XVidMode calls for a remote client.
