Yes, I know. The reason for the decision, however, was that they thought
that getting Tarkin to a releasable state would not only be more
difficult but would take much longer than getting Theora to such a
state, and they wanted to get SOME good open-source video codec out
there. Theora has taken longer than they expected, but I still think
they might have been right.

Your other suggestion did help, yes.

Already done, and thank you. I suppose I should look into how this
works (beyond the obvious), if I'm going to continue to use and talk
about development software...
