wouldn't it be easier to expand a bit around the movie when the window
is resized to a non-aspect-preserving ( wow, what a word :-) ratio?

i mean the same behaviour as for "-vo x11 -zoom"....

that way one doesn't have to bother with the sillyness of the
windowmanagers...
