Both of those are registered in the WHOIS database, and with good reason:
mediaplayer is the name of Microsoft's player. (Also, the executable
is called mplayer.exe, last time I checked.  I nearly jumped seeing that,
then realized what it was :)  Leave it to Microsoft to name their programs
so generically.

OTOH, both mpegplayer.net and .org are registered too :)

You don't need a "web site" to check domain names, just install the
handy 'whois' program.
