Let me just add the .VCR file will play under windows media player or media player classic, but only if the PC has a working install of ATI Multimedia Center. On other PC's without ATI MMC, the video does not show if you play it.

I tried GSpot already. On any PC that I have (whether ATI multimedia is present or not), GSpot is unable to discern the codec. It reports that the .VCR file from ATI TV recorder is not a valid AVI file.

TV Recorder, such as Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic?

yes, it does play on both. Media Player Classic reports the video codec as MPEG2 video. Windows Media Player on the other hand reports nothing (just a dash).

for me.

I'm attaching here a copy of a small header portion (50Kb - produced actually by GSpot).

I'll send a complete file (about 1Mb size) separately.

I hope that you created a new entry and did not edit an existing one. Also,
you think that this "atidvcr.dll" is the codec you want, but you need to be
sure. Try downloading GSpot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/). It will tell
you which codecs are needed to play your file.

Can you play the file in a player other than ATI Multimedia
TV Recorder, such as Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic?

Other than that:

1) Upgrade your MPlayer to the CVS version
2) Read the codecs section of the manual thoroughly. Check out the list of
supported codecs. Find out how to discover the info that you need to create
a codecs.conf entry.
3) Can you upload a small piece of the file? The first 1 MB should be enough
for me.
