Do you mean whe using the Cygwin vs MinGW shell or compiled under Cygwin
vs compiled with MinGW? In the later case I'd consider that a Cygwin
bug...

I will. The last character of the line wil not be used and if you happen
to have a character already written there it will probably stay :-(
So I don't like to have this patch in without an additionaly #ifdef
